Personal Notes
In the last years, my main winter job was marketing/communication consultant, but from now I will try to make sailing my first occupation and start a new career at the sea.
Competencies
I have sailed for almost thirty years on cabin cruisers. I started in the Italian Navy (as a Lieutenant) and then I had first experience as skipper/commander for a charter company based in Ravenna, from 2005 to 2010. Then, from 2014 to 2019, I was one of the 3 commanders who led the 63? ketch of an Italian private self-financed expedition in its long circumnavigation of the Mediterranean in 5 years, touching 23 countries, with almost 20 thousand miles of navigation.
I have had responsibility for crews and boats up to 65" across the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Eastern Atlantic, and sailed as co-skipper on even larger boats in the English Channel and Brittany. In summer 2020 I skippered the private s/y Thanks, a beautiful Grand Soleil '56, with up to 6 hosts onboard, sailing in the Costiera Amalfitana, from Salerno to Capri, Ischia and Procida. I am passionate about sailing and the maritime tradition, as well as I am interested in rigging and deck equipment. Since I have personally dealt with the refitting of the family 34" sloop since 2010, I have necessarily become familiar with all the on-board systems: electrical, hydraulic, routine engine maintenance, safety systems, etc.
Soft skills
As a former Italian Navy Officer I learned and experienced the importance of teamwork, which is always strictly indispensable on board.
I like to work in team and usually, thanks to my leadership, I can instill an excellent atmosphere in the crew.
Because of my degree in Geology&Oceanography, I'm interested in all nature&sea conservation issues, as well as in meteorology.
Moreover, as most Italian people, I knows some "secret" about good, healthy, Mediterranean cuisine, best olive oil and best wines, form Italy or France, in the world. I'm a passionate home-made bread&pizza baker too :-)
Organizational skills
As a former Navy Officer, I managed group of sailor and other people in order to get several service target.
