Personal Notes
I am a Deck Officer on board of merchant vessels and I would like to expand my experience to the yachting area.
Competencies
I experienced a Roro Pax ship as Third Deck Officer for 4 months, with the following duties and tasks: bridge watchkeeping, use and test of the bridge redio equipment, voyage planning, voyage publications management and update, including paper charts, ECDIS and digital publications, assistance in the cargo and ballast operations in port.
I developed my experience on board of the Morfini Spa oil chemical tankers as Deck Cadet Officer for 12 months. I was trained by an excellent staff of Deck Officers and Captains, navigating worldwide with multinational crews, mostly Filipinos, Italians and Rumenians. The need to communicate with a multinational team and the shore personnel was prominent for the improvement of my communication skills in all their forms, especially in the technical English, enriching my technical vocabuary and making better my role of assisting my superiors on board.
My working experiences included all the navigational matters: bridge watchkeeping, planning and monitoring of the ship's navigation, nautical astronomy, ship's cargo operations and stability, security and safety management (with particular attention to the emergency drills procedures and their organization), firefighting and LSA maintenance and controls, international laws (especially Marpol, which is particularly strict on Oil and Chemical Tankers).
I hold a B2 Certificate for the English Language, obtained after the appropriate tests at the end of a 3 weeks stage at the Yale College of Wrexham, in Wales.
Soft skills
Good team working abilities, even with a multicultural contest (I worked mainly with non Italian crewmembers in my experience), smart and affable behaviour.
Organizational skills
Good coordinative and leading abilities, developed during my working experience as Deck Officer and Deck Cadet on board.
Technical skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft and Open Office, I worked mainly on Windows for personal and job related necessities. |
